Based in the popular resort of Irvine, this tour combines exploration of the Ayrshire Coast with a spot of island hopping. Also featured are Culzean Castle, Brodick Castle, and plenty of time at leisure.

We start with a short ferry crossing from Largs to Great Cumbrae, a small and picturesque island only 10 miles across. We have an afternoon at leisure around Troon, with its sandy beaches, beautiful views, and bustling harbor. We head south to Culzean Castle and Country Park, perched high above the Ayrshire cliffs. A costumed guide will share the secrets of the castle, once home to the chieftan of Clan Kennedy, an ancient Scottish family descended from Robert the Bruce. There is a planned excursion to the Isle of Arran, beginning with an included visit to Brodick Castle. Dramatically set against the backdrop of Goatfell, the grand red sandstone, baronial-style castle has stunning views over Brodick Bay and boasts impressive gardens. There is then some free time in Brodick to enjoy.

Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine****

The Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine (formerly the Hallmark hotel) is a 4-star, modern, low-rise hotel on the outskirts of the town and set in its own grounds. The restaurant offers a buffet breakfast with a served evening meal. All bedrooms have TV, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, and a good number of the rooms are on the ground level.

Day 1

You will be collected from your home and travel north into Scotland with suitable comfort stops along the way before arriving at the Riverside Lodge Hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Great Cumbrae

Great Cumbrae and Troon

Enjoy a short ferry crossing from Largs to the peaceful island of Great Cumbrae, a picturesque island just ten miles around and renowned for its scenic coastal views and relaxed atmosphere.

Later, continue to the attractive seaside town of Troon where there will be free time to enjoy the sandy beaches, bustling harbour and beautiful coastal scenery.

Culzean Castle

Culzean Castle and Country Park

Today you travel south along the Ayrshire coast to the spectacular Culzean Castle and Country Park.

Perched dramatically above the cliffs overlooking the sea, the castle is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes. Included is a special “Face to Face with the Past” character tour, where a costumed guide brings the fascinating history of Clan Kennedy and the castle itself vividly to life.

There will also be time to enjoy the beautiful gardens and grounds.

Isle of Arran

Isle of Arran and Brodick Castle

A wonderful excursion awaits today as you travel by ferry from Ardrossan to the beautiful Isle of Arran.

Often called “Scotland in Miniature”, Arran offers stunning scenery including rugged mountains, coastal views and picturesque villages. Included is admission to Brodick Castle and Gardens, dramatically positioned beneath Goatfell with magnificent views over Brodick Bay.

After exploring the castle and grounds, there will be free time to enjoy Brodick before returning by ferry to the mainland.

Final Day

After breakfast, we begin our comfortable journey home.

Suitable stops will be made along the way before returning you safely to your front door with fond memories of your Scottish holiday.
